POSTCARDS FROM REJECTLAND IV: THE FORSAKEN OUTPOST

And so begins the first series of Postcards From Rejectland that involve the Hammer Of Retribution Resource Pack in its first iteration during the 1.7 cycle. Most visibly, pickaxes have been "upgraded" to hammers, the font has changed to something considerably more appropriate than the standard (ugly) text for its origins, and is narrower to fit more characters on a sign. All the changes, including those you'd never notice if I hadn't told you, are explained on the download page.
There may be a huge number of screenshots, but there was a lot to show off as my projects were getting more ambitious!
EL SAKKAF: THE GOLD FACTORY
The gold factory was built, but before I could do anything else practical in 1.7, I had to go exploring to discover those new biomes and new artefacts to be found there. All this time, I made sure not to return to the Fortress, but instead to El Sakkaf, where the gold factory would be left spawning and splattering pigmen overnight. Splat, splat, splat, splat, sound off, monitor off, in bed, wake up, look how many gold nuggets I've got! Let's mould them into a huge gold block...
In 1.6 and before, there were two flowers. 1.7 bumped that up to 14 - ten regular flowers and four larger ones. Some can only be found in specific biomes. And so, I'd have to go looking for those new biomes if I wanted to find them. Time for exploration into new territory!
Where all those horses ended up will be revealed soon enough. Meanwhile, everything's collected for now; the Savanna is the one major new biome I can think of that with new features that hasn't been covered here, and won't feature in the rest of the update. However, I found one around map 62, so keep your knickers on and don't accuse me of hacking!
Now we have to see what we can do with all these wonderful new bits and pieces. Right?

All this time, as I say, I was going back to El Sakkaf to spend a night (a real-life night) under the pyramid, grinding pigmen for all they were worth. I must have had to do that for a couple of weeks. But, here is the result of thousands upon thousands of un-lives being snuffed out:

From one old-world religion to the one that finds acceptance in Rejectland. As I have mentioned briefly during Postcards III, churches in this world are dedicated to our Lord and Master, HWNSNBM - such is the reverence for his rejectful majesty that he was mentioned nearly every time on the Formula One Rejects podcast until Jamie and Enoch decided that it was too much and our Hungarian hero was now He Whose Name Shall Never Be Mentioned (as to do so is to take his name in vain and the punishment is for the transgressor to be bombarded with flaming papayas).
Each Rejectland church is also given over to a saint - someone who would have been eligible for a Formula One Rejects profile, but was considered honorarily unrejectified due to being killed in action during a World Championship Grand Prix. The most notable of these was the driver who was the first to die on Imola's black weekend, 29th April - 1st May 1994. Roland Ratzenberger, or St. Roland of Salzburg as he will be known here, was unfortunately overshadowed by the equally horrific death of Ayrton Senna the next day. There was already one church automatically generated in Arnouxville, the first to appear in Rejectland, which was initially dedicated to St. Roland - but on reflection I thought he deserved something a bit bigger.
McGregor, one of the two original villages in Rejectland, had the space to upscale the standard Minecraft church, and after a bit of testing in a Superflat world...

Ordinarily, the next Postcards would be from Fort Law. But instead, we're going back to Scheckter Farm to find out what happened to all those horses from map 66.
Now we can head northwest again, back to Fort Law to see what happened there.
Updating villages is hard work. But how about... building one from scratch? And not some folly like Perry Grove or Wilson House, I mean using the proper village blueprints to drop a village into a biome where none will spawn via the game code.
Well, that's what I did.
