PROJECT 28: RED SCORPION SUGAR CANE FARM

Project coordinates: X +193 : Y +70 : Z +236
Date completed: 8 November 2015

I'd been meaning to build a sugar cane farm for quite some time, it's just that everything else got in the way - things which would be more useful to me, and I had a manual patch that would score me six stacks of sugar cane per harvest when fully grown. However, paper is an excellent tradeable commodity, and that's what I had to move even further towards. Likely as not, I'd also need a whole load more books in the future, and with easy production of leather at Cowpoke Seymour's Cattle Grid, this would provide the means to create vast amounts of paper to go with it.

Red Scorpion was a name I'd initially thought of for the upcoming guardian farm, with the ambitious idea to transform the blue ocean monument into a red structure featuring granite, Nether brick, netherrack and redstone blocks. It wasn't the huge amount of work that put me off the idea - it was the sudden realisation that I was thinking of crabs, lobsters or other crustaceans - not scorpions, which tend to live in deserts. However, there was a desert in my spawn chunks, giving me a huge amount of unused space, and sugar cane is known to grow on sand...

The design I've opted to build is NimsTV's Fast & Compact Bulk Sugar Cane Farm, which is expandable in two directions and is absolutely perfect for what I need here!

Typical production rate: 432 sugar cane per hour
