Excellent. All six columns of Wurzel Dizzy's Fast Food Silo are now filling up automatically - here I store wheat, seeds, carrots, potatoes, chickens and feathers, four of them tradeable, the other two which can be converted into something tradeable but one (i.e. the seeds) is far easier to do so than the other. Seeds can be fed to chickens - those in the automatic killing cell in the Battery Hen Battery would be ideal; feathers need to be crafted into written books, which require ink sacs that are produced at a considerably lower rate, and the leather for the books requires wheat to produce, which in turn involves feeding the cows at five minute intervals... I can make a chest full of written books (that stack to 16) that will probably be a copy of Baldrick's blockbusting novel from Blackadder The Third ("Sausage? SAUSAGE? *grumble*") that I can sell to an unwitting librarian but I wonder if it's worth it, or whether I should wait for another trading revamp so a stack of feathers could be sold to a fletcher for 3-4 emeralds (really, I wonder why Mojang didn't do this, and why they had a fletcher buy string instead, when a fisherman also does - I suppose it's for making bows with, though...?)

Ages ago I wondered if potatoes and carrots would ever be tradeable - they weren't until 1.8, but in the revamp there, I finally got what I wanted. Pumpkins and melons were also made tradeable - and with pumpkins at tier 2 and melons at tier 3, these allow a huge, huge amount of trading with one farmer whose price is right before his use is completely exhausted, and the gathering of an immense amount of emeralds. So, really, I need an automatic pumpkin and melon farm, capable of producing a huge amount of both of these automatically. But I'll also need somewhere to store them, with much more capacity than at the base. This means extending the silo. And while I'm at it, I might as well include sugar cane, seeing as I'll be making an automatic farm for that at some stage, and even leave a space for beetroot - because 1.9 can't be that far away, can it?
